Questions

Straight answers, including the awkward ones.

How Wolcott works, what it can and can’t do, and what happens to your data. If something isn’t answered here, email me and I’ll add it.

01How it works

What can I upload?
Screenshots, PDFs, docs, spreadsheets, or plain pasted text — if your training is written down somewhere, that's enough. You don't need a special format, and you don't need a coach: a plan you wrote yourself in your notes app works fine.
Do I need a coach or a formal training plan?
No. Upload whatever you already have, however messy. If you don't have anything written down, you can type your week straight in during onboarding.
How does it decide what I should eat?
A deterministic nutrition engine takes your profile (age, size, goals, preferences) and the training week you uploaded, then calculates your energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat, hydration, and meal-timing targets from published sports-nutrition guidance. The same inputs always produce the same numbers.See exactly how the numbers work
What about allergies and foods I won't eat?
You set allergies, dietary pattern, and dislikes during onboarding, and plans are built around them. That said, always check ingredients yourself before eating anything on a plan — verifying your own allergens is your responsibility, not something you should outsource to software.
Can I swap a meal I don't like?
Yes. Any meal can be swapped for an alternative that hits the same nutrition targets, so a substitution never quietly breaks your day's numbers.
How does the grocery list work?
Everything from your week's meals is consolidated into one store-ready list, sized to what you actually need and organized by the store you pick. Prices shown today are modeled estimates based on typical retail pricing — not live prices pulled from your specific store. Live store-level pricing is in development, and estimates are labeled as estimates until it ships.
Does it handle two-a-days and mixed training?
That's the case it was built for first. A heavy lifting day, a long run, a double session, and a rest day are each fueled differently, with meal timing placed around your actual session times rather than a generic breakfast-lunch-dinner split.
What if my training changes mid-week?
Update your week and regenerate. A short weekly check-in also feeds your energy, hunger, and adherence back in, so the following week's plan adjusts rather than repeating something that wasn't working.

02Trust & safety

Is the AI making up my calories and macros?
No — and this is the part worth understanding. Your targets come from the deterministic engine, not from a language model. AI does exactly two jobs: it reads the training you upload, and it describes meals that fit the targets the engine already set. A guard rejects any meal text that drifts from those numbers before it reaches you.Read the full methodology
Is this medical or dietetic advice?
No. Wolcott provides general educational nutrition planning for recreationally active adults. It does not diagnose, treat, or prevent any condition and is not a substitute for individualized medical or dietetic care.Read the nutrition disclaimer
What if I have a health condition or a history of disordered eating?
Please talk to a qualified healthcare professional before following any generated plan. The engine is built to refer out rather than guess: inputs suggesting a clinical or specialized need trigger a recommendation to work with a professional instead of relying on automated planning. If a plan ever conflicts with advice from your provider, follow your provider.
Who is actually behind this?
One person — Dash Wolcott, an athlete who got tired of guessing how to eat around training that changed every day. Not a faceless brand, and you can email him directly.About the founder
What happens to my data?
Your account details, athlete profile, uploaded training, and generated plans are stored so the product can work. Your uploads are sent to our AI provider to be read and to write your meal descriptions. We do not sell your personal information or share identifiable training or nutrition data for anyone else's marketing.Read the privacy policy
Can I get my data out, or delete it?
Yes, both, at any time, from Settings — export a copy of your data, or delete your account and the athlete data attached to it.
Can I cancel, and what if I'm not happy?
You can cancel anytime from your account, and cancelling stops future renewals at the end of the period you've paid for. Your first week is free with no account required, so you can see the whole thing before paying anything. If something's gone wrong or the product isn't what you expected, email wolcottsupport@gmail.com — refunds are handled case by case, by a real person.
